Hi crew, Just a quicki, I have weak spark in my points, I have recently put a new condensor in, but with all the trouble of late, could it be stuffed already & is there a way to check these?.
I have run a test lamp on the NEG side of the coil that runs to the points & it goes on and off like a champ when I turn the car over, but I can't seem to get a decent spark at the points. maybe I just suck at setting points tho?. :)
Cheers, Wayne |

Hi Wayne, you dont want a good spark at the points as that will burn them out quickly, the condenser is there as a current absorber/surpressor for the current to flow to when the points open to help reduce arcing across the points. Its been a while I hope Ive explained it correctly.

We have progress, new coil=new spark, looks like I now have spark at the points, spark when I arc the coil lead from the coil to earth, but no spark from the dizzy cap to the #1 spark plug lead. Guessing new cap, new leads, rotor button is new already.. The saga continues. |

Houston we are go. Cheers for you help on this guys. New coil, new condensor, new/old spark plug lead, clean the blockage out of the carby needle & seat so it can get a drink and it went like a charm...
Now to start stripping it some more. |
